The primary purpose of the variety is the control of potato cyst nematode. The plant's root exudates stimulate the hatching of nematode larvae, which are unable to develop in the root tissues. The effectiveness of pest control depends directly on the plant's ability to produce sufficient biomass, amounting to no less than 700 g/m² of dry matter.
Unlike wild forms, the variety is adapted to a cooler climate. The plant is a semi-hardy annual with a height of 60 to 100 cm (in individual cases up to 1.5 m). It is densely covered in thorns, pubescent with sticky glandular hairs, and contains the alkaloid solasodine, which provides resistance to a number of diseases and pests.
