The Iturrieta variety was developed in Spain as a result of breeding work. Its origin is associated with the experimental farm for potato improvement Granja de Iturrieta, located in the province of Álava.
According to potato pedigree data, the genetic cross of the variety involved the parental forms Allerfrüheste Gelbe and Katahdin. Publications do not contain a detailed description of the morphological traits, maturity groups, or disease resistance of this variety.
