Tubers are round or short-oval, slightly flattened, with red-violet or pink-red skin and deep eyes. The flesh is light yellow, often with a reddish ring in the vascular zone; sprouts have a red-violet coloration.
The variety is mid-late and requires a long growing season, which can result in small tubers under short-summer conditions. Characterized by high dry matter content and good keeping quality; it turns dark when fried due to high sugar content.
The plant is sensitive to late blight and susceptible to rots while having relative resistance to scab. A table variety, traditionally used in Icelandic agriculture and maintained in gene banks.
