The variety belongs to the category of firm-fleshed potatoes that retain their shape during heat treatment. Its characteristics were studied as part of scientific research on the genetic transformation of the crop.

During phytopathological tests, the Yesmina variety was characterized as moderately susceptible to the pathogens Phytophthora erythroseptica and Pythium ultimum, which cause tuber rot. The variety was also tested for its reaction to tuber necrotic spotting caused by the PVY virus.
