Soave variety belongs to the sweet sorghum group and is an annual herbaceous plant with high C4 photosynthesis efficiency. In scientific literature, it is classified as a historical variety and is frequently used as a control sample when evaluating the properties of new breeding lines.
The main purpose of the variety is the production of biomass and sugars, including for bioethanol production. The plant possesses marked tolerance to soil salinity, maintaining seed viability and the ability to grow under salt stress conditions better than a number of other varieties.
The variety demonstrates high indices of stem biomass yield at the soft and hard dough stages in comparative trials.
