SBS001 is classified as a sorghum-sudangrass hybrid, not a pure sudangrass. In official variety registers, the hybrid is registered for cultivation for green fodder.

Studies note that in German conditions, this hybrid does not reach the required silage maturity, as it was created for North American conditions. The plant also shows a tendency towards lodging.

Due to its hybrid origin, the morphological traits of the variety, such as height or disease resistance, can vary significantly depending on growing conditions. Detailed data on the breeding program is unavailable in open sources.
