The Merkurii variety belongs to the soriz group, which is classified as a hybrid of sorghum and sudangrass or grain sorghum with specific morphological traits. The variety is intended for grain use, including food purposes and biofuel production.

In laboratory studies conducted at research institutions, the protein content in the grain of the Merkurii variety was determined at the 12.4% level. Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as plant height, indicators of resistance to diseases or lodging, are not presented in open publications.
