The Groene Koningin variety, also known as Breedblad Scherpzaad, forms large broad leaves of bright green color with a smooth surface and a pointed tip. A distinctive morphological feature is the prickly seeds.

The plant belongs to early varieties capable of rapid development under short daylight conditions. The variety is sensitive to temperature increases, which causes early bolting, and is also susceptible to downy mildew. Therefore, sowing is recommended before the end of February for fresh consumption.
