The variety belongs to the savoy type, characterized by blistered, wrinkled dark-colored leaves. Anatomically, the leaf blade is characterized by the presence of glandular trichomes and stomata.
The variety is intended for cultivation during the summer period. In scientific research, Menorca spinach is used in the analysis of plant heat stress, as well as for studying the composition of the leaf surface microbiota.
