The variety is diploid (2x). It is used in agriculture as a forage crop for green fodder, silage, and hay, and is also included in forage grass mixtures.
In scientific literature dedicated to the study of allelopathy and interaction with parasites, high susceptibility of the variety to broomrape (Orobanche minor) is noted. A number of sources incorrectly classify this variety as tetraploid, however, official European registers classify it as diploid.
