The variety was created based on genetic material from the local East Styrian population «St. Kathrein». The plant is a tall perennial grass forming loose sods, with a height ranging from 30 to 80 cm.

The variety is adapted to alpine climate conditions and shows good endurance. In terms of biomass yield, it is inferior to some other varieties, but it is valued for its improved quality indicators and safety for livestock, which makes it an important component of grass mixtures in mountainous regions.
