The variety is a perennial grass intended for the improvement of meadows and pastures in mountainous and foothill regions, where it demonstrated good adaptability. The plant forms loose sods, with a typical height ranging from 30 to 80 cm.

The species possesses good winter hardiness and is capable of withstanding temperature drops down to -34 °C. As with other members of the species, the plant may be susceptible to yellow oat mosaic virus.
