The variety was intended for use as a forage crop. Studies showed that the nutritional value of its grain for poultry farming was comparable to wheat, which allowed for its use in high dosages in diets.

In British trials on light soils, the variety demonstrated good yields, outperforming winter wheat when grown in conditions prone to root rot. Technologically, the variety possessed high indicators for grain release from the ear during threshing.

German data from 1999 recorded extremely low winter hardiness of the variety, manifested in total crop winterkill under the conditions of the severe winter of 1996/97 in Brandenburg.
