The variety belongs to the winter development type and is characterized by high grain yield. The plants of this variety are tall.

Tobruk possesses resistance to stem and leaf rust, as well as moderate resistance to stripe rust. Due to the need to increase the level of resistance to stripe rust, more modern varieties have appeared in breeding to replace this one.
