The variety Kärn II belongs to tall varieties. Compared to some contemporaries, such as the variety Svenno, it is distinguished by a greater stem height, exceeding its indicators by 15 cm.
The plant possesses good grain quality indicators and high baking properties, due to which it was actively used in crossing to improve the milling characteristics of other varieties. Regarding phytosanitary characteristics, the variety shows susceptibility to stem rust.
The variety is widely represented in genetic resource collections, including the NordGen and VIR seed banks, and often acts in scientific research as a reference or initial parental material for Scandinavian breeding.
