The flag leaf is characterized by a high frequency of curvature; glaucosity on the ear and leaf sheath is absent or very weak.
The variety belongs to the mid-season or mid-late maturity group in terms of heading time. In scientific literature, KWS Bittern is often cited as a model organism for studying the response of spring wheat to abiotic stresses, including drought, temperature fluctuations, and ozone exposure.
