The variety was created as a result of crossing three different species and varieties: wild emmer, a modern Israeli variety, and a variety from Arizona. Development was conducted to adapt the plant to the Mediterranean climate while maintaining high yield and nutritional value.

The plant possesses improved protective properties against diseases and pests. In scientific literature, the variety often serves as a reference sample when conducting comparative studies of drought tolerance and adaptive qualities of wheat.
