The variety was obtained by crossing Turkish genotypes with Italian varieties and is traditionally used for the production of pasta, couscous, and other cereal products. International databases classify this variety as spring wheat.

The plants of the variety possess the Rht14 dwarfing gene, which contributes to a reduction in their height; the average height is about 87.3 cm. The variety is used as an object for studying susceptibility to Fusarium head blight and for mapping resistance to leaf rust.
