The variety was created with the participation of the CNEN agriculture laboratory in Italy. Its distinctive features are short stature and high stem resistance to lodging, inherited from the parent mutant variety Castelporziano.

The variety has historical significance for Italian breeding. In scientific research, it is often examined in the context of the analysis of gliadin composition and glutenin subunits that determine grain quality, as well as in the study of resistance to stored product pests, including the granary weevil.
