The variety belongs to the Triumph tulip group, obtained by crossing early varieties with later ones. The plant is characterized by a classic goblet shape, mid-season flowering, and short stature.
Due to its strong stems, the variety is resistant to wind and lodging, which makes it suitable for the open field. The Lydia tulip is suitable for forcing, including water forcing, as well as use in pot culture and for cut flowers.
