The Makarska variety belongs to the group of fringed tulips. The plant forms bright red or red-pink flowers, the petals of which are decorated with a characteristic needle-like or ciliate fringe along the edges.

The height of the tulip varies from 30 to 50 cm. The variety has strong stems and high frost resistance, corresponding to zone 4. Flowering occurs in April–May.

The plant is used in open field landscaping, borders, and containers. Due to its characteristics, the variety is considered suitable for pot forcing for spring holidays.
