Variety description

The Merlot tulip variety belongs to the lily-flowered group. The plant has large, elegant goblet- or cup-shaped flowers with pointed, slightly reflexed petals. The coloration is saturated, wine-red or ruby, with a black base with ivory may be visible in the center of the flower upon opening. The plant height varies from 35 to 70 cm; the leaves are dense, dark green, with a waxy coating.

Flowering occurs in April–May. The variety is characterized by high resistance, including to precipitation. It is used for decorating borders, flower beds, mixed borders, rock gardens, and is also suitable for cultivation in containers on terraces and patios.
