The flowers of the variety are large, goblet-shaped, coral-red in color with a distinct creamy-white margin along the edge of the petals and a yellowish hue in the center. The plant reaches a height of 30 to 45 cm and has medium-green broadly lanceolate leaves.
The variety is early-flowering; the blooming period begins in April, often coinciding in timing with Kaufmanniana tulips. The plant is noted for its hardiness and ability to naturalize; it is suitable for cultivation in gardens, containers, and for use as cut flowers. It is presumably a mutation of the Pinkeen variety.
