The name Purple Peony most often refers to the Double Late Group. These are late-flowering plants with a blooming period falling in late spring, predominantly in May.

The flowers are characterized by a densely double structure externally resembling a peony; the palette includes various shades of purple, violet, and dark crimson. Plant height varies from 37 to 60 cm, and the leaves are strap-shaped with a grey-green or dark green color.

This type of tulip is used for garden landscaping and as a cut flower crop. The plants require well-drained soil and a sunny location, and due to heavy buds, they may require support under adverse weather conditions.
