Toyama Red is a local Japanese variety, recognized at the national level and included in the official lists of approved cultivars of Japan. The variety is widely known as a symbol of tulip cultivation in Toyama Prefecture, particularly in the city of Tonami.

The variety is actively used for ornamental landscaping and thematic displays, such as the decoration of the "Tulip Tower" in Tonami Park, and is also showcased at specialized tulip exhibitions.
