The Traveller tulip belongs to the fringed type. The flower has a dark lilac primary shade and a white base; the edges of the petals are adorned with a fringe. The height of the plant varies from 40 to 50 cm. The bud has a goblet shape, reaching 7–9 cm in height and about 5 cm in diameter.
The flowering period occurs from late April to early May. The variety has frost resistance within zones 3–4. The plant is intended for ornamental gardening, is suitable for single and group plantings in flower beds, and is also suitable for cutting.
