Variety TH-1797 (commercial name Ava®) belongs to the southern highbush blueberry group. It is genetically derived from a cross between varieties TH-1120 and Suziblue. The chill requirement for this variety is 200–300 hours at temperatures below 7.2° C.
The plant has moderate growth vigor and a semi-upright bush habit. The variety belongs to the very early maturity group, ripening ahead of the Rebel and Suziblue varieties. The fruits are very large, weighing from 3.5 to 4.2 g, light blue in color, and are distinguished by good flavor, firmness, and a dry picking scar.
