Perennial herbaceous plant with solitary flowers of a blue-dark-purple shade. The flowers are gathered in raceme inflorescences 5 to 10 cm in length and 1–2 cm in diameter. The size of individual flowers varies from 1 to 10 mm.

The leaves are lanceolate in shape with serrated margins, dark green in color, reaching 10–15 cm in length. The plant prefers well-drained soils rich in humus and can develop in both full sun and partial shade.
