The plant reaches a height of 30–90 cm, possesses a deep taproot system and compound leaves. The grains are small, the thousand kernel weight is approximately 30–50 g, and the fat content in the seeds is low, reaching about 2%.
The presence of canavanine gives the seeds a bitter taste, which provides the crop with natural resistance to a number of pests, in particular to aphids. The variety is being researched in the context of the composition of soluble carbohydrates in the seeds, including the presence of D-pinitol.
