The Hedosa variety was used as a model organism in scientific research on plant cell walls, in particular when studying the interaction with fungal pathogens such as Uromyces vignae.
In international breeding documentation, the variety was previously listed as a reference for developing testing methods for vegetable beans, but in the period 2003–2004 it was excluded from the lists of reference varieties.
