The Arrechana variety belongs to the species Vicia faba L. (including the variety Vicia faba L. var. minuta) and was bred for adaptation to the conditions of the Mediterranean region. The variety was obtained through selection from the accession numbered 135-1.

The plant possesses resistance to chocolate spot (Botrytis fabae) and moderate resistance to powdery mildew. The variety is distinguished by high grain yield and is used in agricultural production as a fodder crop and for the needs of the food industry, as well as in crop rotations to improve soil fertility.
