The variety Maris Bead belongs to the tick bean type, characterized by a plant height of about 180 cm and the formation of small, round seeds with a black hilum. The plant possesses good resistance to lodging.

The variety demonstrates partial field resistance to chocolate spot and downy mildew. Due to its powerful root system and ability to fix nitrogen, the crop is used as a green manure.

The variety's seeds are in demand for the production of pigeon feed and are used in the food industry, particularly for preparing Middle Eastern dishes. Maris Bead is often used as a standard for conducting agronomic trials of new varieties.
