The variety is of the spring type and is one of the most cultivated representatives of this crop in France. Genetically, the Maya variety is close to the Troy variety.

In scientific publications, Maya is used as a reference variety when studying the adaptation of beans to various conditions of the European climate. Detailed morphological characteristics and precise indicators of resistance to diseases or lodging are not presented in open sources.
