The variety was obtained by genealogical selection from Mediterranean populations. It is used as a forage crop for hay, silage, and green mass production, as well as for improving soil fertility in crop rotations.
The plant is early-maturing and has the ability to adapt to different sowing dates. Seeds have a variegated, often two-tone color. Autumn sowing or late-winter sowing is recommended; for seed production, the seeding rate is 80–100 kg/ha.
