The grape variety Slava was bred in 1979 as a result of collaborative work between Bulgarian breeders from the Institute of Viticulture and Enology in Pleven and specialists from the Ya. I. Potapenko All-Russian Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking. The official description of the variety was published in a specialized journal in 1992.

The plant possesses high resistance to downy mildew, attributed to the presence of the Rpv10 and Rpv3 genes. The variety is intended for winemaking, though detailed morphological characteristics of the vine and maturity indicators are limited in scientific literature.
