The variety is of French origin from the Rhône Valley and is a natural hybrid of the Mondeuse blanche and Dureza varieties. The vines are characterized by medium vigor. The leaves are medium-sized, round in shape, three- or five-lobed, and medium-dissected. The variety has hermaphroditic flowers.

The clusters are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical in shape, and of medium density. The berries are medium, slightly oval, and black in color. Resistance to fungal diseases is assessed as satisfactory. Wines produced from this variety are distinguished by a high tannin content and peppery undertones.
