The variety is an interspecific hybrid bred in Germany. It is genetically related to the Saperavi severny variety. The vines are characterized by very strong growth, and the variety belongs to the early-maturing group.
The plant possesses increased resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and frost. Due to the loose structure of the clusters, the variety is little susceptible to grey mold. High productivity and winter hardiness allow it to be grown in regions with a cool climate.
Sibera is a wine grape variety intended for winemaking. The wine material is used for the production of neutral white wines, which in their characteristics approach Riesling-type wines in cold climate conditions.
