The variety is a descendant of the Hebén variety. The name comes from a Catalan word meaning withering, which indicates the tendency of the berries to undergo this process on the vine. The leaf and vine are characterized by vigorous growth; the variety belongs to late maturity groups.

The flower is hermaphroditic. Bunches are medium-sized, elongated, cylindrical-conical, and typically loose. Berries are fairly large, oval, dark blue with a thick bloom; the skin is of medium thickness. The flesh is fleshy-juicy, light-colored, and the juice is uncolored.

The variety is distinguished by good tolerance to arid conditions, although its overall disease resistance is low. Yield is low due to cultivation difficulties. Its purpose is exclusively winemaking: it is used for the production of red, rosé, and sparkling wines.
