Variety description

The Mercedes variety belongs to the group of colored calla lilies. The plant reaches a height of 50–70 cm and forms goblet-shaped flowers of a rich bright orange color, the base of which may have a yellowish hue. The flowering period in the open field lasts from June to August.

The variety is thermophilic (hardiness zone 9–10) and does not overwinter in the open field, so the tubers must be dug up for the winter. Sunny or semi-shaded areas with loose, fertile, and well-drained soil are preferred for cultivation. The plant is sensitive to excessive watering, which can cause root and tuber rot.
