The Lo1067 line was developed in Italy at the Bergamo breeding station. It is a genetically uniform material obtained through repeated self-pollination, used as a parental component for breeding high-yielding hybrids.
In scientific research, the line is used as a model object for gene mapping, the study of genetic diversity, and lipid content. It is also used in phytopathological experiments to study resistance to ear rot caused by Fusarium verticillioides, and in resistance trials for the herbicide trifluralin.
