The hybrid was bred in the city of Martonvásár, Hungary. Norma belongs to the mid-season maturity group with an FAO number of 370 or 380 and was actively used in long-term scientific experiments studying agricultural techniques, the influence of fertilizers, and breeding in the period from 1988 to 2013.

In the course of the research, the hybrid demonstrated high yield stability and relative drought tolerance, showing smaller yield losses compared to a number of other hybrids. The plant was intended for commercial cultivation for grain or silage.
