Nostrano dell’Isola is a local variety historically grown on the plains between the Adda and Brembo rivers. This variety belongs to the genetic heritage of Italian corn varieties and is cultivated in specific conditions using irrigation from melted alpine waters.
In an industrial context, the variety is used as a component mixed with barley malt in beer production. In breeding, there is also an improved form known as Nostrano Peroni, adapted for the needs of modern production.
