PHT11 is an inbred maize line created for use in breeding programs. It acts as genetic material for the first recombination cycle and is included in the pedigree of other breeding lines, such as PH42B.
In scientific research, the PHT11 line is used as a subject for studying genetic diversity and physiological traits, including the ability of plants to remain green until the end of the growing season, as well as in evaluating resistance to various diseases, such as leaf blights and Gibberella ear rot.
