The Ross hybrid series was created by breeders at the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center. The seed production of many hybrids utilizes a sterile base, eliminating the need for detasseling on maternal lines.
Plants have an average height of 200–240 cm. Grain is most often yellow, of a flint-dent or dent type. The hybrids are characterized by cold tolerance, rapid early development, adaptability to various soil types, and good grain moisture dry-down during ripening.
Representatives of the series possess medium or high resistance to major diseases, including common smut and stalk rots. This group includes various hybrids, such as Ross 130 MV, Ross 140 SV, Ross 195 MV, and Ross 199 MV, which differ in vegetation period and morphometric indicators.
