Dahlia Bedding Plantings

The use of dwarf dahlia varieties to create dense ornamental beds and borders, most often grown from seeds as annuals.

Dwarf non-double forms are used for dahlia bedding plantings. When creating wide flower borders, the planting density is 15–20 plants per 1 m², which is significantly higher than when growing large-flowered varieties that require a distance of 60–80 cm between bushes.

Plants are often combined with contrasting crops, such as Cineraria or Perilla, as well as with shorter species. In landscape design, dark-leaved varieties are additionally used to create color accents. Agricultural practices for bedding plantings require considering the crop's high sensitivity to frost, which is why planting is carried out only after the soil has warmed up.
