Hemerocallis L.
Growing daylilies in containers requires strict control of drainage, planting depth, and protection against freezing of the root system, which is limited by the substrate volume.
In the reference 11 varieties crop Daylily, where this is mentioned in the description.
When growing daylilies in containers, it is critical to ensure effective drainage, as excessive moisture accumulation leads to rapid rotting of the roots and the root crown. The planting depth must strictly correspond to the level of the root crown: planting too deep provokes decay, while planting too shallow causes drying out.
Under conditions of limited substrate volume, daylilies require regular watering and systematic fertilization for optimal flowering. For small-flowered and compact varieties, containers with a diameter of 40 to 55 centimeters are considered optimal; using smaller containers leads to rapid root system expansion and necessitates frequent repotting.
An important feature is the risk of root system freezing during the winter period. Unlike in open ground, daylily containers must be protected from freezing of the root ball, as complete freezing of the substrate in the pot inevitably leads to the death of the plant.
