The duration of daylily flowering is measured as the period from the opening of the first flower to the wilting of the last one on the scapes of a single clump. Flowering for 25 days or more is considered a high performance for cultivars. Since each individual daylily flower lasts only one day, the overall duration of flowering depends directly on the successive opening of a large number of buds on branched scapes.

Flowering abundance is quantitatively assessed through the number of scapes per clump, their degree of branching, and the total bud count.
