Vicia faba L. var. equina St.-Amans
Lodging in fava bean is an agronomic trait manifested by stem bending, which critically reduces the efficiency of mechanical harvesting and yield.

Two main forms of lodging are characteristic of fava bean. With excess rainfall, a gradual bending of the stems occurs along the entire length with a pronounced inclination at the base of the shoot, whereas during drought, the plants undergo "twisting" in the middle or upper part of the shoot.
Evaluation of resistance to this trait is carried out during the ripening period using a scoring system, usually from 1 to 5 or from 1 to 9 points. Resistance is recorded as a qualitative characteristic during variety trials by comparing samples with each other under identical conditions, as there are no uniform numerical threshold values for a given variety.
