Tomato Productivity

Solanum lycopersicum L.

A complex indicator of a variety's potential, divided into commercial productivity, expressed through yield, and seed productivity, characterizing the capacity for seed reproduction.

In the reference 270 varieties crop Tomato, where this is mentioned in the description.

Tomato commercial productivity is determined by fruit weight, the number of fruits per plant, and the number of fruiting clusters. Depending on growing conditions, these indicators range from 4.5–6.8 kg/m² in open fields to 100 t/ha or more in professional winter greenhouses under intensive cultivation technologies.

Seed productivity is evaluated through the number of flowers and fruits per plant, fruit set percentage, number of seeds per fruit, the seedification coefficient, and the weight of 1000 seeds. This parameter allows for the determination of a variety's potential in seed production and its ability to realize genetic qualities.
