Brassica napus var. napus
A fungal disease of rapeseed caused by Botrytis cinerea (teleomorph Botryotinia fuckeliana). It manifests as the formation of brown spots and grey mycelium on stems, inflorescences, and pods, often leading to premature pod shattering.
In the reference 11 varieties crop Rapeseed, where this is mentioned in the description.
The causal agent of grey mold is the fungus Botrytis cinerea, which infects the plant throughout the entire growing season, most frequently in the second half. Watery spots appear on the affected rapeseed organs, which become covered with a characteristic grey conidial layer under high humidity. In dry weather, the tissues at the infection sites dry out, and small black sclerotia form on the surface.
The disease often leads to premature pod shattering, which results in underdeveloped and shriveled seeds. The boundary of the lesion on the stems changes with age: from sharp on young plants to diffuse during the maturation period. Specific races of the pathogen or resistance genes in rapeseed varieties have not been identified due to the fungus's broad specialization and the polygenic nature of resistance.
